Reflect & Acknowledge

Teacher Self-Reflection

Teachers can write a self-reflection as part of the post-observation workflow, so growth is a two-way conversation rather than a one-way report. The teacher answers a set of reflection prompts on their observation once the observer submits it for their review.

After the observer submits the observation, the teacher sees the reflection prompts in the Reflection section of their observation page. Reflection answers support rich text — bold, lists, and links — using the same editor found elsewhere in the product.

If reflection is set to be required before acknowledgment, the teacher must complete their reflection first, then acknowledge the feedback.

The reflection prompts — the questions the teacher answers — are configured per Form Set, so a district can tailor them to its professional development framework:

  • Go to Form Sets → Edit → Reflection prompts.
  • If prompts aren’t customized, a sensible default set is pre-loaded, giving teachers a starting point.

Self-reflection is off by default. Turn it on under Form Sets → Edit → Require teacher reflection. It applies only to observations created after it’s turned on — already-closed observations are not pulled in.
