Reflect & Acknowledge

Overview

weCLIMB includes a structured post-observation workflow for teachers. After an observation is submitted, a teacher can record their own self-reflection, formally acknowledge that they have read the observer’s feedback, and open their observation directly from a secure email link — no password required. For districts that require a documented, signed teacher receipt for formal evaluations, the acknowledgment becomes part of the permanent observation record.

Roles: observers conduct and submit the observation; teachers reflect and acknowledge; administrators configure what’s required and read the results.

  • Teacher self-reflection — the teacher records their own reflection as part of the observation, so growth is a two-way conversation rather than a one-way report. Reflection prompts can be customized by an administrator.
  • Teacher acknowledgment — the teacher formally confirms they’ve read the feedback. The acknowledgment is captured with the teacher’s name, the time of acknowledgment, and an optional written response, and it becomes part of the permanent record and the closed-observation PDF.
  • Email (magic-link) access — a single click in an email opens the teacher’s observation directly, with no password to remember.

The observation page is organized into clearly labeled sections — Details, Observation, Overall Feedback, Reflection, Acknowledgement, Closure, and Discussion — with a tab-style menu to move between them. A state summary at the top shows where the observation sits in its workflow, and a “What’s next?” card names the next action and who owns it.

When a Form Set requires reflection or acknowledgment, the observer’s Submit button (formerly “Finalize”) sends the observation to the teacher, and the observation waits for the teacher’s response before it can be closed. When neither is required, submitting closes the observation in the same click — exactly as Finalize did before.

Reflection and acknowledgment are configured per Form Set, so a district can require them for formal evaluations while leaving informal walkthroughs unchanged. If your district isn’t enabling either, observations behave just as they did previously. Reflection prompts and email timing are managed on the weCLIMB Settings page.
