Downloading Certificates

Open, save, and print the certificate for a completed course, assessment, or learning path.

A certificate is the document you hand to a principal, a licensing office, or your own recertification file to show you completed a piece of professional learning. In eLearn, you open certificates from My Transcripts.

eLearn does not store a finished certificate file for each completion. Each time you open one, it builds a PDF from a certificate template and the details of your completion.

The content publisher designs the template: a background image with fields placed on it. Fields can include your name, the content title, start and completion dates, credits or hours, and, for proctored or learning path content, a list of the assessments and proctors. What appears on your certificate depends on the template your content uses.

A completion can have more than one certificate. The content can have its own certificate, your district’s license for that content can carry one, and a learning path that includes the content can carry another.

  1. In the My Home sidebar, under REVIEW, select My Transcripts.
  2. Find the completion. If it is from an earlier school year, change the date range first (see Viewing My Transcripts).
  3. Select View on the card.
  4. If more than one certificate applies, a Choose Certificate window lists them by name. Select the one you want.
  5. If the certificate needs information only you can supply, an Enter Data window opens. Fill in the fields and select Save. eLearn uses this information only to build this copy of the certificate and does not keep it.
  6. The certificate opens in a Certificate window.

The Certificate window shows the PDF in your browser’s built-in PDF viewer. Use the viewer’s download or print control to save a copy or print it. Select Close when you are done.

Because eLearn builds the certificate each time you open it, you can return to My Transcripts and open it again whenever you need a fresh copy.

When you finish a course or assessment that awards a certificate, a Certificate button appears in the course player. See Course Completion and Certificates.

When a system administrator records outside training for you, they can attach a certificate file (a PDF or an image). That entry appears on My Transcripts as a gray card. Select View on the card to open the attached file. An image opens with a Print button.

If the gray card has no View button, no file was attached.

Certificates for proctored assessments are on a different page. In the My Home sidebar, under REVIEW, select My Certifications, then select Download Certificate on the row. See Viewing Your Assessment Certifications.

  • Confirm the completion is on My Transcripts. A course or assessment you have not passed has no transcript entry and no certificate.
  • Check the date range on My Transcripts. It opens on the current school year.
  • If the certificate still does not open, contact your district’s system administrator.
