Coaching Cycles

Action Steps

Action steps are the heart of a coaching cycle. A coach assigns a step to a teacher directly from an observation, then carries it forward — so coach and teacher pick up exactly where they left off at the next visit.

Assign action steps to a teacher directly from an observation. Each step can be:

  • Completed — with an optional completion note,
  • Deferred — until a date, with an optional reason,
  • Revised, or
  • Removed.

Steps stay visible on the next visit. On the observation capture form, a reminder panel shows the coach any pending action steps for the selected teacher before they begin writing.

Build a library of Action Step Templates so coaches can drop a well-worded, reusable step into a cycle instead of retyping it each time. Templates are managed by administrators under Settings.

On any action step, a coach can recommend a course from the organization’s licensed eLearn catalog, using a searchable, category-filtered picker. The recommendation shows on the step as a chip that tracks the teacher’s progress:

  • Recommended → Enrolled → Completed

Coaches can remove a recommendation at any time. This is available only for accounts with eLearn enabled; if no courses are licensed yet, the picker explains why there’s nothing to recommend.
