Getting Started

Setting Up Your Account

A first-day checklist for a new account. Sign in, check your profile, choose your notifications, and confirm your roles and schools.

Use this checklist on your first day in Master Teacher. Each step takes a few minutes and links to the article with the details. Setting up before your first observation or course means your name is spelled right in reports and the emails you need reach you.

Accept your invitation, create your password, and agree to the terms of service. If your district uses single sign-on, you sign in with your district account and skip the password. See Accepting Your Invitation.

Open the account menu (your name in the top-right corner) and click My Profile. Click Edit My Profile to fix your name, email, phone number, job title, or employer name. Observers, coaches, and administrators see your name and photo on observations, coaching records, and reports, so correct any misspelling now.

You can also add a profile photo. See Managing Your Profile.

The Notifications card on My Profile lists the emails and push notifications you can receive, such as reflection requests, comments, and course recommendations. Push applies only if your district uses a mobile app. Every box starts checked. Uncheck the ones you do not want; each change saves on its own. See Managing Your Notification Preferences.

The top of My Profile shows your roles and the schools you belong to. Your system administrator sets both, and you cannot change them yourself. Check that they match your job:

  • A teacher is usually Observable, so they can be observed.
  • A coach or principal who observes teachers needs Observer.
  • Someone who runs reports needs Reporter.

If a role or school is missing, ask your system administrator. See Understanding User Roles and Permissions for what each role adds.

Open My Dashboard from the home icon in the top bar and look over the sidebar. See Navigating the Platform.

If something in this checklist does not work, contact your system administrator, or see Accessing Help and Support.
